Although we don’t offer services for dogs here at our office, our massage therapists all agree that there are plenty of techniques that can aid in relieving dogs or other animals pain or giving them a higher quality of life.

Just like in humans, these ailments can be treated with alternative methods like massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. Chiropractic care in animals is very similar to humans. Animals can suffer from subluxations that are causing misalignment in their spine and joints. Using chiropractic adjustments and massage therapy can actually reduce the need for surgery, especially if the animal is suffering from joint pain. One of the most common animals to receive treatment are horses. Because of their size, carrying the weight of a rider, and possible long training hours for rodeo and other activities, horses are highly likely to suffer from stiff joints or injuries.

Chiropractic care and massage therapy are both completely safe for your animal when being administered by a healthcare professional. Many dogs and cats are put on heavy medications to help pain that can cause them to be lethargic, drowsy and not themselves. By using alternative methods you are taking a much more holistic approach to getting your animal to its optimum health.
