Paniolos Hawaii Opens in Kailua

Hawaii is home to many authentic foods.

Some of which, you can only find here on the islands. Likewise, the mainland is home to many restaurants that aren’t here in Hawaii. When people from the mainland move to or are stationed in Hawaii, they sometimes have to leave behind some of their favorite go-to restaurants, one of them being the wonderful world of Chipotle.

Well, here in Kailua, we have GREAT news for you.

Paniolos Hawaii opened their doors at the end of 2014 and we couldn’t be happier. Located at 600 Kailua Street, this Mexican restaurant has given Hawaii a perfect LOCAL version of the mainland’s beloved Chipotle. Paniolos (meaning “Hawaiian Cowboy”) has a rustic cowboy theme and décor and is perfect for a quick take-out lunch or a casual sit down dinner.

Here’s how it works:

Once you enter the restaurant, you get in a cafeteria-style line in order to make your order. They offer tacos, burritos, and bowls that are all served in filling portions. You first choose between brown or white rice and pinto or black beans.

They offer: Chicken, steak, shredded beef, tofu and of course our favorite: Kalua pork.

You then choose your toppings including: salsas, cheese, guacamole, vegetables and more.

If you ordered a burrito, it will be rolled into a hunk of aluminum foil covered perfection.

Best part about it? Like Chipotle, Paniolos Hawaii serves only fresh and local ingredients!

Go down to the Kailua Shopping Center and try it out for yourselves and let us know what you think!

The burrito gods have listened to our prayers and they sent us Paniolos Hawaii.
