Chiropractic Myths: Busted

When it comes to chiropractic care, there are tons of aspects that the average patient doesn’t even realize. And, if you’ve never gotten chiropractic treatment, you may be going off of a lot of commonly known chiropractic myths. Here at OSR we are going to bust those myths for you quickly and easily so that you’re ready to come in and see us with no worries and cloudy vision.

Myth 1

The first myth is that chiropractors are not real doctors. This is absolutely not the case. In order to become a chiropractor you must get an undergraduate degree and then go to a chiropractic college. The next step would be to obtain your license. You must complete a certification exam from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Usually a chiropractor will have a specialty where they continue their education in order to make sure they are up to date on findings in their specialty.

Myth 2

The second myth is that chiropractors only treat pain related to the back. In reality, chiropractors can help their patients with many conditions including exercise, nutrition and healthy habits. When it comes to pain, chiropractors are able to help with all conditions from neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, and foot pain. The treatments may focus on adjusting your spine, but they will provide relief from pain all over your body.

Myth 3

The third myth is that chiropractic adjustments hurt. While some patients can experience discomfort during an adjustment, pain is not usually a result of adjustments. A chiropractic adjustment generally will give a patients a sense of relief. Nothing that the chiropractor is doing is meant to hurt or cause pain, it is meant to adjust your body in the best way in order to help your health.

Myth 4

The last myth is patients that don’t believe that chiropractic care will work for them. The truth is, chiropractic care can help every person’s health. You don’t have to be suffering from chronic pain to need to see a chiropractor. Whether it is to relieve pain or to help aid in better sleep, chiropractic adjustments can help. The more aligned that the musculoskeletal system is, the better your overall health and well being will be. Our chiropractic care here in Kailua can help you achieve a healthy spine, nervous system, muscles and joints.
